A Pictorial Chart of Lotha Costumes and Artefacts was launched by Advisor for agriculture department, Government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan at Likya Community Hall, Wokha on Tuesday.
In his address, the special guest highlighted on the importance and significance of promoting and preserving the culture. Yanthan encouraged the team to initiate more of such programs related to Lotha culture and artefacts. He further appreciated the team for creating the pictorial chart for wider circulation.
The Pictorial Chart of Lotha Costumes and Artefacts is the initiative of a team of four Lotha men – Ajamo Odyuo, P. Orenbomo Tungoe, K Mesathung Kinghen and L Zachamo Ovung.
The chart depicts and portrays the images of the attires and artefacts worn by Lotha men and women folks during ceremonial occasions. The objective of the chart is to ‘Preserve, Propagate and Promote’ the traditional attires and artefacts so as to keep the continuous flow of knowledge to the younger generation as a loss of culture will result to a loss of identity.
L Zachamo Ovung chaired the program while welcome address was delivered by P Orenbomo Tungoe. A short speech was delivered by Thungjamo Tsanglao, Chairman, Lotha Literature Committee and vote of thanks was delivered by K Mesathung Kinghen.
