Plantation drive and painting competition held in Kohima to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas

A tree plantation drive was organized by the Assam Rifles Kohima Battalion in collaboration with the Eco Club of Capital College to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas. The event was held under the theme of “Green Tomorrow: Our Land, Our Future – We are Generation Restoration”, informed a press release by Assam Rifles.

The plantation drive took place at the upcoming new campus of Capital College on Jotsoma Road near Science College. A total of 500 saplings, including local species and fruits, were planted by the students of the Eco Club and Assam Rifle personnel.

During the event, the youth of the college were educated about the significance of Kargil Diwas, one of the greatest victories of the Indian Armed Forces, with a special mention of the supreme sacrifice made by Capt Kengruse, MVC (P). This initiative aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and honor the brave soldiers who have served our country.

Further, a Painting Competition for students of Assam Rifles Public School, Kohima was organised on the occasion wherein the children  showcased their skills depicting the theme of bravery and sacrifice of our war heroes in Kargil War 1999. The competition aimed to inspire the students to express their creativity and patriotism through art and generate awareness among the students.
