The national launch of the Prime Minister Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission was observed in Wokha district along with the rest of the country on Saturday. The programme also included the inauguration and foundation stone laying of more than 1,100 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Food Processing sectors by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The main event, held at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC), Pusa, New Delhi, was virtually connected with districts across India.
In Wokha, the district-level programme was organised at the DC Hall, where officials, Self Help Group (SHG) members and farmers attended the live telecast of the launch.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr Sandeep Deshmukh, senior scientist Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Wokha, explained that the newly launched schemes aim to enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen rural infrastructure and promote self-reliance among farmers. He stressed the importance of adopting scientific practices, local innovation and capacity building to address challenges in agriculture and allied sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Echungbemo Erui, SDO (Civil) Wokha, highlighted the significance of the initiatives for the farming community and rural development. He urged participants, especially SHG members and progressive farmers, to take advantage of the schemes and utilise available resources effectively.
He further noted that the missions would help improve pulse production in the country while opening opportunities for entrepreneurship in agriculture-related sectors. He called for joint efforts among departments to ensure successful implementation and awareness among rural farmers about the benefits of the programmes.
Officials from KVK Wokha, representatives from various departments and members of SHGs attended the event.
