Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi laid the Foundation Stone for establishment of the Integrated Aqua Park at Tzudikong, Mokokchung district under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) on October 11 through a virtual video conference in the presence of Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and A Pangjung Jamir, MLA & Advisor, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department, Government of Nagaland. The Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Rongsennungba and Department Officials also participated in the programme.

This is the first Aqua Park in Nagaland that would serve as a center for showcasing of fisheries related developmental activities. Its primary focus would be on fish and fish seed production and is poised to be a transformative force in Nagaland’s fisheries sector. It would offer a comprehensive resource center for high quality inputs and would facilitate forward market integrations to ensure equitable pricing for fishery products.

It would meet the needs of the fish farmers, where they can avail all the benefits within Nagaland and will empower the educated unemployed youths towards development of fisheries sector.

The event also saw multiple stakeholders and beneficiaries taking part in the programme from various districts.
