Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the State of Nagaland this month and if so, he will be holding a public rally at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

Confirming this, highly placed sources however said the PM visit to Nagaland is yet to be fully confirmed and if he does visit the state, it will be after 20 October.

This comes as a significant development as the Naga peace talks between the NSCN-IM and GoI had resumed in September and sources informed that the talks are moving in the right direction with a possible breakthrough expected anytime soon.

It has also been confirmed that the NSCN-IM Chief Th Muivah will be flying to the National capital next week.

The NSCN-IM and GoI are on a break now and talks are expected to resume after Diwali.

Nagaland is also gearing up for the General Assembly Elections which is due early next year. Various speculations are doing the rounds on Modi’s purpose of visit to Nagaland. However, people are hopeful that the visit of PM will not go in vain for the Nagas.

Significantly, sources have also informed that the President of India Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Nagaland on 2 and 3 November.
