The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Thursday informed that PM Narendra Modi will be visiting the Northeast state of Arunachal Pradesh on 19 November. There, Modi will inaugurate Donyi Polo Airport at Itanagar, the first greenfield airport in the state.
The statement said the Rs 640 crore airport is built in an area of 690 acres and has a 2300 m runway. The development of a new airport in Itanagar will not only improve connectivity in the region but will also act as a catalyst for the growth of trade and tourism, thus providing a boost to the economic development of the region, it said.
The PM was earlier expected to inaugurate the Donyi Polo Airport on 30 October 2022.
Following the statement, the District Commissioner of Papum Pare, Sachin Rana informed 10,000 delegates to attend the mega inauguration of the airport. The delegates will include VIPs, students, cultural troupes, party workers and the public.
The DC has also appealed to all the denizens of Hollongi and nearby areas to cooperate with the police and the district administrative and extended the invitation to attend the mega event.

PM Modi will also dedicate 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the nation on his visit to Arunachal Pradesh. The PMO stated that the project is in an area spread over more than 80 kilometres in West Kameng District and cost more than Rs 8450 crore.
Further, the statement said that the hydro power station will make Arunachal Pradesh a power surplus state, also benefiting the National Grid in terms of grid stability and integration.
