Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday graced the third and final day of the Poanglüm festival “Lüm Lin” (Joyous Parting) at Parade Ground, Tuensang. The Special Guest remarked that the Chang are among the most fortunate tribes of Nagaland as Tuensang was the first district in the Eastern Nagaland region and urged them to protect unity and peace like warriors.
He asserted that the State Government is trying its best to reach out to the needs of the people in the region but added that development must go hand in hand with oneness, unity and peace. Rio further assured that once the Naga political issue is settled, development will come to Nagaland quickly as investors from within and outside the country are waiting to invest in the State.
Earlier, the Chief Minister lauded Chang Khulei Setshang for bringing together 63 villages for the celebration of the premium festival, and expressed Poanglüm greetings to all the special invitees and delegates with great happiness.

P Bashangmongba Chang, Minister of Housing and Mechanical Engineering, Government of Nagaland, was the host of the third day of celebration. In his speech, he conveyed Poanglüm greetings to all and explained that Poanglüm is a post-harvest festival and a herald to the villagers to begin the usual process of cultivation in purity and newness. It is also a time when conflicts are resolved and peace treaties are made. Chang encouraged all the youths to treasure the rich culture and to display it in coming days. He also acknowledged the Government of Nagaland for sponsored the Poanglüm festival.
Tingthok Konyak, President, Konyak Union, presented a token of appreciation to the Chang community and encouraged the youths to learn and understand the true meaning of the festival to enrich their culture.
The program was attended by Minister Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir; Advisor Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence, S. Kiusumew Yimchinger and a host of dignitaries.
During the function, the Chief Minister awarded Qui-Qui (Highly Exalted) award to O Mongku Yanchu Chang IPS, Phejan Newsletter for promoting Chang community and Chingmei Village for highest Millet Production among the Chang villages.
Invocation was pronounced by Rev H Sangkap, Pastor, Tuensang Town Baptist Lashong, and Shensinge song was presented by Eli Imti. Also, Poanglüm greetigs was presented by Miss Chang 2024 and Tradigraphy was show by Yongkuk Baptist Church, the winner of Poanglüm 1st Tradigraphy competion 2024. These were followed by traditional folks dance from Waoshu village and Yangpi village.
