Zunheboto: The millet cooking competition was won by New Colony, while DC Hill came in the second place and North Point was third

Poshan Pakhwada millet cooking competition held in Zunheboto on 29 March 2023.

A millet cooking competition for Anganwadi workers was conduct on Wednesday by the department of social welfare, government of Nagaland at the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office at Project Colony, Zunheboto.

The competition was held as part of the celebration of Poshan Pakhwada 2023, an initiative by to promote a healthy and nutritious diet to curb malnutrition among children and women.

Extra Assistant Commissioner Zunheboto, Mopling M. Phom, NCS expressed his delight to see the Anganwadi workers work hard for the competition and lauded them for preparing the tasty food. Phom, the special guest, said that the variety of ways in which the millet had been prepared can be used in different occasions and encouraged the Anganwadi worker to always work hard and give their best.

Mughalu K Awomi, District Co-ordinator Zunheboto while sharing about the significance of millet in diet said that the grain is very nutritious and beneficial for children’s nerves, bones and muscles. Moreover, it helps in preventing diabetes, liver problems and neurology disorders, he added.

Awomi gave instructions on how to sow millet and added that the millet can be used in making desserts, pancake, porridge, and many more.

Bonathung Ngullie, CDPO while delivering the welcome address lauded EAC Zunheboto and the beneficiaries and participants for their cooperation.

He said that the theme of the program was about millet and urged the Anganwadi workers to come forward and participate even in the days to come.

Earlier the program was chaired by Mary Chishi, Block Co-ordinator while the vote of thanks was proposed by Hino N Awomi, Block Co-ordinator, Asuto, Zunheboto.

The millet cooking competition was won by New Colony. DC Hill came in the second place and North Point was third.

The key themes of Poshan Pakhwada 2023 are Promotion and popularisation of Shree Anna / Millets for nutritional wellbeing; Celebration of Swasth Balak Spardha; and Popularise Saksham Anganwadis.
