Power Department bids farewell to two outgoing Chief Engineers

The farewell program in honour of two outgoing Chief Engineers, Er. Penrithung Yanthan, Chief Engineer (Transmission & Generation) and Er. Tiameren Walling, Chief Engineer (Distribution & Revenue) was held on April 30 at the conference hall of the Power Department, Kohima. The program was attended by K.G Kenye, Minister Power & Parliamentary Affairs and Asangla Imti IAS, Secretary (Power) and Er. Lanu Toy the first Chief Engineer of Power Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Power on behalf of the State Government expressed deep gratitude to the two outgoing Chief Engineers for rendering three and a half decades of exceptional service to the State and said that it has been an immense pleasure working with them. He wished them all the best in their future endeavors and also opined that they could serve the State in a much higher capacity in the days to come.

In her speech, Asangla Imti said that the farewell program was an occasion for commemorating the lifelong carrier achievements of the two outgoing Chief Engineers who played vital role in the Department. She added that they have contributed immensely towards public service and that it was an honour and a privilege to have worked with them. Imti also accredited them for creating a conducive working environment in the Department and fostering a culture of collaboration and consultation which epitomizes true leadership. She encouraged all the officers and staff of the Department to carry on the mantle of responsibility and uphold the good morale like they did.

While fondly recollecting his years of service with the two outgoing Chief Engineers, Er. Moa Aier, Engineer-in-Chief (Power) said that they were two of the most outstanding officers of the Department and highlighted the immense contribution the two have given to the Power Sector and thanked them for their continuous support.

Speaking on behalf of Association of Power Engineers Nagaland (APEN), President APEN and incoming Chief Engineer(T&G), Er. Kasho Chishi congratulated the two outgoing Chief Engineers for completing their 35 years of sincere and dedicated service and thanked them for their contribution towards the welfare of the officers and the Department.

In his farewell speech, Er. Penrithung Yanthan the outgoing Chief Engineer (T&G) encouraged the upcoming Officers and underscored three important things for officers working under the Department. He said that if one has any good ideas, it should not be kept to oneself but should be brought out and applied when it is still valid, as ideas conceived today might not be workable tomorrow. Secondly, he said that there are lots of room for improvement, as 35 years of time is long enough to do many things but unbeknownst to us, time passes quickly and so things should be done before the sun sets. Thirdly, he asked the officers/staff to value the consumers and serve them well.  He contributed his success to the Almighty God and thanked the Almighty for his benevolence and blessing him with good health and imparting him with the wisdom to serve the people as we are in the Department for public service. He expressed that he enjoyed working as a team and thanked all officers and staff for their support during his years of service.

Er. Tiameren walling the outgoing Chief Engineer (D&R) in his farewell speech also thanked the Almighty for providing him the privilege to serve in the Department and thanked all the officers and Staff for constant support throughout his tenure. He also lauded the Officers & Staff of the Department for their dedication and sacrifices despite being confronted with many challenges and encouraged all to continue their dedication towards providing good service.

The farewell program was chaired by Er. Nitovi A Wotsa, Superintending Engineer (Technical) vote of thanks by incoming Chief Engineer (D&R), Er. Wabangmeren Jamir, invocation by Tokheli Shohe and a special Number by Er Myingthungo Ngullie and Renthungo Tungoe.
