Practical parenting guide book released

A practical parenting guide titled “Essential Baby Care for Every Parent – A perfect gift” authored by pediatrician and neonatologist Dr Akumtoshi was formally launched on March 2 at White Owl, Chumoukedima, in the presence of healthcare professionals, parents, and invited guests.

The book provides simple, research-based guidance on essential newborn and infant care, including breastfeeding, safe sleep practices, vaccinations, and developmental milestones, aiming to help parents confidently navigate early parenthood.

The programme was hosted by Riko Kronu and featured addresses by publisher Hitoca H Sumi, the author Dr Akumtoshi, and Atuno Rio, the Proprietor of White Owl. The ceremonial launch and prayer were led by Pastor Kevi Z Kevichüsa.

The publication carries a foreword by Prof Dr. Michael Hall and has also received appreciation from international neonatology expert Prof Dr Mark Johnson, Chief Neonatologist, Southampton Children’s Hospital, UK, who noted: “In this book, Dr Akumtoshi shares simple, research-based guidance on essential newborn care—breastfeeding, safe sleep, vaccinations, and developmental milestones—to help you confidently navigate early parenthood and embrace its joy.”

Speaking at the event, Dr Akumtoshi emphasized the importance of accessible, evidence-based childcare information for families. He expressed hope that the book would serve as a reliable companion for new and expecting parents.

The event concluded with interaction with attendees and refreshments.

The book is intended for parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals seeking simple and practical guidance on early child care.

The book will be available in White Owl, Fusion store and very soon in The Common Room in Kohima.
