In the resignation letter, Kikon highlighted that he had served in the party for two terms as the president. Being a constituent of 37 Tyui Assembly Constituency – the constituency of Yanthungo Patton, Deputy Chief Minister (Home), Government of Nagaland – Kikon mentioned that he has been a follower of Patton for long as a loyal Party karyakarta.
However, Kikon accused Yanthungo Patton of becoming “arrogant and inaccessible to all, especially party karyakartas”.
“An immature person by temperament, he does not entertain any supporter in his residence or office and is known for constantly lying to hide his failures,” Kikon stated in the letter.
The former president further stated that he finds it appropriate to inform the high authority that, “Yanthungo Patton, saddled with immense power, has ensured that he only enables his own coterie to benefit thereby throwing away the greater and wider opportunity for the Party to grow in Nagaland – citizens of this state are silent witnesses to this glaring and brazen nepotism being practiced by him.”
He also alleged in the letter that the responsibility given to Yanthungo Patton by the Party High Command to be the Party’s candidate for Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland has “been a waste for the long run”.
Kikon further accused Patton of not keeping his commitments to his voters, citizens and party karyakartas.
Wokha district has four constituencies and in the 2018 Assembly elections, BJP had won two seats while NDPP and NPF won one seat each. NPF MLA later joined NDPP.
Nagaland Tribune reached out to the BJP Nagaland State Spokesperson Pintu M Ghosh and Co-Spokesperson Nini Cheng for statements but they declined to comment on the matter.
