President, VP, PM extend greetings to citizens of Nagaland on 62nd Statehood Day

On the occasion of the 62nd Statehood Day of Nagaland, the President of India, Vice President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister were among those who extended greetings to the people of the State.

President Droupadi Murmu, in a post on X platform, noted that besides the rich heritage of flora and fauna, Nagaland is also a land of bravery. The President commended on the State’s progress in various development parameters and wished for “a peaceful, prosperous and progressive future”.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar remarked on Nagaland’s untouched natural splendour, vibrant culture and deep-rooted harmony with nature. “With a strong connection to nature and a spirit of resilience, Nagaland continues to thrive as a cultural and ecological treasure of Bharat,” he stated and hoped that the State will “flourish, achieving growth and prosperity across every facet of life”.

Extending his greetings on the 62nd Statehood Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “Nagaland is widely admired for its rich culture and the wonderful nature of people belonging to the state”. He noted that the Naga culture is known for its spirit of duty and compassion and prayed for Nagaland’s continuous progress in the times to come.

Union Minister for Home and Cooperation, Amit Shah, remarked that “Nagaland is a shining example of our diversity on Bharat’s rich cultural tapestry.” He also wished for the State to proper under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, extended best wishes the people of the State and said that Nagaland is a shining example of ‘Unity in Diversity’. Scindia also said that his official tour to the State in the month of November gave him an opportunity to witness its rich biodiversity and vibrant environment.

R.N. Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu and former governor of Nagaland, too extended greetings on the occasion and prayed for “a better and brighter future for our people.”

“This day we remember with gratitude and pay our heartfelt homage to our countless brave ancestors led by the Naga People’s Convention who outrightly rejected violence, made ultimate sacrifices and with overwhelming popular support created Nagaland for an honourable and prosperous future for the people of the state,” the Governor stated in a message. He added that the day is also for celebrating the rich and vibrant cultural diversity of the state which is the pride of India.

Other leaders of the country who extended their greetings on the occasion of the 62nd Statehood Day of Nagaland included Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs; Jual Oram, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs; Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education; Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry; G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines; Om Birla, Speaker of Lok Sabha; Mallikarjun Kharge, President of Indian National Congress and Leader of the Opposition (Rajya Sabha); Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha).
