The Soyim Students’ Union celebrated the Tsüngremmong festival with a vibrant program at Yimtsungta Arok Sapang, Ungma. Er Imsapang Imsong, Executive Engineer, PWD, Mechanical Department, Mokokchung Division, Government of Nagaland, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Er Imsapang Imsong highlighted the importance of living a culturally rich life, using the word “Sobaliba” (to be born and to live). He stressed that progress in life requires embracing culture, including practices like traditional eating habits, social etiquette, and cultural ways of addressing others. He also emphasized the need for academic commitment and prioritizing God.

Guru Rarenbenba Longkumer, in his speech, underscored the significance of the festival and the importance of preserving and valuing culture. He encouraged students to practice, pursue, and research their culture, noting that it brings valuable aspects of life
The program commenced with a welcome address by Rongsen T Imsong, President of the Soyim Students’ Union, followed by a traditional Tsüngremmong celebration tune performed by the union’s seniors.
The celebration featured a variety of competitions, including top spinning, fire making, winnowing, tug-of-war, and cultural dance, aiming to promote cultural preservation and appreciation among students.
