Progressive Souls win NSACS’ Band Competition at Mokokchung

Mokokchung: The contest was part of NSACS’ 10th Multimedia Campaign to spread ‘An awareness through music’ amongst the younger generation

Progressive Souls from Zunheboto district won the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) organised Zonal District Level Band Competition for Mokokchung Zone on Friday evening at Town Hall Mokokchung.

The contest was part of NSACS’ 10th Multimedia Campaign to spread ‘An awareness through music’ amongst the younger generation. The theme chosen for the battle of the bands in Mokokchung was ‘HIV Prevention Starts with me’

Progressive Souls, which consists of Vitoka on the vocals, Meshel on the guitar, Ometo on the drums and Mughato on bass, won the beat contest and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

The other three bands who competed with Progressive Souls from Zunheboto were The Saints from Tuensang, Story to Tell from Mokokchung and Kenei & the Faith Band from Kohima.

1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up were Story to Tell Band and Kenei & the Faith Band respectively. The bands took home cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000.

Ali Imsong, Proprietor of Resonate Studio, Ayu N Mongro, Keyboardist of Tune-Up channel and Prashant Thapa, representative of District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) were the judges for the competition.

The winners and the first runner-up from each Zone / Zonal District will compete in the Grand Finale at Kohima.
