One person, identified as N Diswang Hau, died today in a tragic accident on National Highway 29 at Peducha under Kohima district, when the vehicle he was driving skidded off the road and fell into a roadside drain. Late Hau was the GB of NST Colony in Dimapur and former president of All Zeliangrong Students’ Union – Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
The Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO, Kohima Police, Relo T Aye, NPS informed that the accident happened around 11:00 am. He said that statements from eyewitnesses revealed that the deceased was enroute from Dimapur to Kohima and that in the process of overtaking, the vehicle skidded and crashed through the road’s side railings. It then fell in a roadside drainage.
The Adl. SP informed that despite the quick response from passersby to revive him, Hau was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a condolence message, the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union – Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) expressed its profound grief at the loss of Late N Diswang Hau who had served as Union’s president from 1996-2003.
“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of a great leader and a true asset to the Zeliangrong community,” it said.
The Union’s President, D. Stephen Zeme, stated that Late Hau will be remembered for his dedication, honesty, and selfless service towards the betterment of the people. His contribution will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all, it added.
AZSU also extended its thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family and said that though he is no more, his spirit and teachings will continue to guide the Union. “Let us honour his memory by upholding his values of integrity, compassion, and service to the community,” it stated.
The Office of the Joint Council Forum, NST colony, Churches Colony and Middle Point, Dimapur, has too mourned the tragic death of Late Hau who is the GB of NST Colony.
“Mr. Hau was an exceptional public leader, renowned for his sincerity, honesty, and dedication to the community. His unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people was inspiring, and
his presence will be deeply missed,” the JCF stated in its message.
While extending its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Forum said that Late Hau’s untimely demise is a significant loss for the Joint Council Forum and the entire Dimapur community. His legacy will continue to inspire us, and we will strive to carry forward his vision for the betterment of our community, stated Pikato Chishi, Convenor and Omega G. Naga, Secretary of JCF.
It has been reported that the funeral service for Late N Diswang Hau will be held on 11th July 2024 at the Pentecostal Convention Ground, Dimapur at 9:00 am. Thereafter, the mortal remains will be taken to Poilwa Village, Peren district, for the last rites.
