Promoting Scientific Curiosity: District-Level Science Fair Held in Tuensang

Tuensang: IPS Kanchan Kumar Kanpal stressed that science is not just a discipline but a way of life urging the audience to preserve its integrity

The pursuit of scientific knowledge took center stage as the District-Level Science Fair, 2023 unfolded at the Auditorium GHSS Tuensang. The event, graced by the presence of SP Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kanpal, IPS, as the Chief Guest, fostered a platform for students to showcase their scientific explorations.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Kanchan Kumar Kanpal offered an inspiring perspective on science, breaking down its essence into the acronym SCIENCE – a systematic approach, comprehensive understanding, investigation, exploration, a focus on natural elements, and discerning the causes and effects. He stressed that science is not just a discipline but a way of life, urging the audience to preserve its integrity.

The esteemed panel of judges, comprising Beso Chang, SDO (SC) from the Department of Soil & Water Conservation; Tekameren Walling and K. Videla Jing, Assistant Professors at Sao Chang Govt. College, evaluated the participants’ contributions.

The winners emerged from diverse categories, with Tonchingkhumla from Wela Foundation School securing victory in the seminar segment. Peshie H from St John Higher Secondary School earned recognition as the runner-up. In the exhibition single category, M. Yemkhiung of St John Higher Secondary School claimed the top position, followed by Y. Yimchunger of Akum Imlong School. The group category’s winners were Lychia Chang and Ngakusipong of Wela Foundation School, while Tangsoi and Sanglilemla of GHSS Thangjam secured second place.

Organized by the District Education Office, Tuensang, the event encompassed not only the exhibition but also a seminar focusing on the topic “Millet – A Superfood or a Diet Fad?” These collective efforts showcased the district’s dedication to nurturing scientific curiosity and exploration.
