Public advised to stay away from downstream of Doyang river and Foothill area

Wokha: Radial gates of Doyang Dam to be opened to release excess water if it reaches full level

The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Vineet Kumar, IAS, has issued an advisory urging public to stay away from the downstream of Doyang River and Foothill area during the period of opening of the radial gates of the Doyang Dam.

He informed that the Doyang Reservoir is likely to fill up to its full level if the incessant rainfall continues and under such circumstances, the radial gates of Doyang Dam will be opened to release the excess water in a controlled matter.

During such exercise, the excess inflow will spill over and flow through the Doyang River downstream of Doyang Power House. Therefore, the DDMA Chairman has urged the public to avoid bathing, swimming, fishing, camping or any activities on the riverside of downstream of Doyang River and Foothill area during the period of opening of the radial gates.
