G. Kaito Aye, Minister PWD (R&B) has countered the statement issued by the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) on February 27.
While the Government is committed to amicably resolve all concerns revolving around the Foothill Road construction in the interest of public welfare, the Minister noted that baseless accusations and character assaults with unjustified use of language must be condemned in the strongest terms.
“Ceremonial launch for commencement of work is the sole choice of the contractor. Your demand for an apology over the launching programme is ill-conceived. It neither requires your endorsement nor any theatrical demand for regret. I owe no apology. But should the project fail to deliver, I will personally apologize,” stated Aye.

The Minister expressed hurt by the NFHRCC’s personal vendetta on his personality, reminding that he is committed to the project and for the welfare of the people, but not for individual confrontation.
“I advise you to reflect on the weight of your words and caution you to mind your language: Public discourse thrives on civility not arrogance. In my long years of public service, I have been educated by the people of Nagaland – their aspirations, struggles and trust. Respect is earned, not demanded. If your intent is truly for progress, redirect your energy towards solving challenges and not manufacturing them. The doors to my office remain open for discussion to resolve the issue amicably,” retorted the Minister.
