Advisor for the Department of Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan stated that public offices are for the welfare of the people during the inauguration of the new office building of the Directorate of Agriculture on December 19. Gracing the inaugural as the Special Guest, Yanthan urged the employees to be accommodative and create a good image of the department.

The new building is located below Phezoucha, New Secretariat Kohima. The technical report highlighted by Er.Achakbou Newmai SE Agriculture, informed that the new Office building was constructed at the cost of Rs.15 crore with 60 rooms capacity and six storey building with a total of 39,878sq.ft.

Speaking at the inaugural programme Advisor Mhathung Yanthan congratulated the department for the successful completion of the new office building. Yanthan also expressed hope that the new office would foster cohesive work culture among the officers and staff and usher in a new area of Excellence. Further Yanthan also encouraged the Department to take the ownership of the new office building and work towards the upliftment of the department. The Advisor apprised the officers and staffs to be committed and sincere in their work place to make a good footprint and deliver their best during their services.

While congratulating the inauguration of the new Agri Directorate Building, Agriculture Production Comissioner R.Binchilo Thong IAS, in his short speech said that the new office building was a realisation of a long cherished dream of the Agriculture department. Though the completion of the building has taken a decade, Thong said, however having the directorate building in the capital complex area will go a long way in solving the problem of coordination between the directorate and the secretariat. Thong also said that with the starting of the new office building by next year, decision making will be expedited and he therefore encouraged the staff to create the most productive decision for the farmers and the state.

Earlier during the programme, the Dedicatory prayer was delivered by Keduoneituo Yhome, Pastor Phezoucha Baptist Church New Secretariat, Kohima and the plaque was unveiled by the special guest. The programme was chaired by Director M.Ben Yanthan and the vote of thanks was delivered by Additional Director C.Peter Yanthan.
