Rahul Gandhi is celebrating his 54th birthday today with Congress party workers from across the country at the Congress headquarter in New Delhi. He was born to Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi on 19th June 1970 at Holy Family Hospital in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi is a five time Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha).

On Wednesday, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, greeting Rahul Gandhi, stated that the qualities which sets the latter apart are his “unwavering commitment to the values espoused in the Constitution of India and your emphatic compassion for the millions of unheard voices”.

“Congress party’s ethos of unity in diversity, harmony and compassion, is visible in all your actions, as you continue in your mission to wipe off the tear from the last person standing, by showing the mirror of truth to power,” Kharge added while also wishing Gandhi a long, healthy and happy life.”

Of all that Rahul Gandhi has accomplished so far in his political career, the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra arguably top the list.

The 136-day march, Bharat Jodo Yatra, which he led from Kanyakumari to Srinagar from 7th September 2022 to 30th January 2023 covered 3500 km on foot.  Later, on 14th January 2024, he embarked on the 6200 km Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra that started from Manipur and culminated in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 20th March 2024.

During both Yatras, Gandhi interacted with the public and listened to their issues. He also spread awareness on the pressing matters in the country. The Congress Party said that the party manifesto for Lok Sabha election 2024 was built on these findings.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha election 2024, Gandhi won from Wayanad (Kerala) and Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh) Parliamentary Constituencies. On 17th June 2024, Kharge announced that the Party has decided to keep the Rae Bareli seat and let go of the Wayanad seat.

It was also announced that Priyanka Gandhi will be contesting in election for the first time in Wayanad.

On 18th June 2024, the Lok Sabha Secretariat notified that Rahul Gandhi had resigned his seat in Lok Sabha from Wayanad PC and his resignation has been accepted by the Speaker.
