Congress leader Rahul Gandhi drew the irk of Assam Chief Minister with a tweet made on Saturday. In the tweet made in Hindi, Rahul wrote,

“They hide the truth, that’s why they mislead everyday! The question remains the same – who has ₹20,000 crore benami money in Adani’s companies?”

He also embedded a poster of ADANI group with some other names.

The names included Ghulam, Scindia, Kiran, Himanta and Anil. It is unclear who the names refer to. However, it appeared to be a veiled remark to ex-congress leaders who had decided to part ways with Congress.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma took cognizance of Rahul Gandhi’s tweet and replied, “It was our decency to have never asked you, on where have you concealed the proceeds of crime from the Bofors and National Herald Scams. And how you allowed Ottavio Quattrocchi to escape the clutches of Indian justice multiple times. Any way we will meet in the Court of Law.”

Anil K. Anthony, Congress leader from Kerela who just recently joined BJP also quoted,

“Sri. @RahulGandhi – This is sad to see a former President of a national party – the so-called PM candidate of the @INCIndia speak like an online / social media cell troll and not like a national leader. Very humbled to see my fledgling name also with these tall stalwarts who have…”

It may be mentioned that Himanta Biswa Sarma is a Lawyer serving as Chief Minister of Assam since 2021. A former member of the Indian National Congress, Sarma joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 23 August 2015 while Anil K Antony joined the BJP, two months after he resigned from his positions in the Congress following a controversy over his comments on a BBC documentary on Gujarat riots.

Anil K. Anthony is the son of congress leader AK Anthony, who was the Union Defence Minister in congress-led UPA government.
