District Civil Supply Officer, Mokokchung, has issued a directive asking ineligible beneficiaries under the Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration card schemes to voluntarily surrender their cards by  August 30.

The notice follows a circular from the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Government of Nagaland (dated 15th May 2025), and is in line with the Nagaland Food Security Rules 2016, framed under the National Food Security Act 2013.

According to the circular, government servants (excluding contractual employees, fixed pay staff, daily wagers, casual labourers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, Home Guards, Community Health Volunteers, and Grade IV staff), as well as individuals with annual family incomes above ₹2.5 lakh, do not qualify for PHH or AAY benefits.

Such ineligible cardholders are required to return their ration cards to the District Civil Supply Office by the deadline. Failure to comply may result in action under the relevant provisions of the Act.

The department has urged all concerned to ensure compliance within the given timeframe to avoid penal action.
