Ravi Bhatnagar graces Day-2 of Hornbill Festival

After the successful grand opening of the Hornbill Festival on Thursday, the second day witnessed the start of the “Cultural Connect” programme. Cultural troupes from different Naga tribes presenting folk songs, folk dance, festive dance, war dance among others enthralled the crowd, showcasing the rich culture, heritage and traditions of the Nagas.

The morning session was graced by Ravi Bhatnagar, Director, External Affairs South Asia Office (SOA) Reckitt as the chief guest. The host of the event was Tongpang Ozukum, Minister Housing & Mechanical and the co-host Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor Information & Technology, Science & Technology, New & Renewable Energy.

Addressing the gathering, Bhatnagar expressed his gratitude for the continuous support to implement the programme Durex ‘The Birds and Bees Talk’ which aims to educate adolescents between the ages of 10 to 19 years on growing up and on life skills. The programme seeks to reach 4 million children across the Northeast states.

Bhatnagar also mentioned that the Birds and Bees Talk are delighted be a part of the iconic Hornbill Festival as the health partner which is an ideal platform to reach the youth who have the ability to create a healthier and more progressive India.

He asserted that Nagaland has pioneered its approach in addressing discrimination and erasing the stigma and sufferings of marginalised people.

He also stated that the support of the people of Nagaland to their programmes focusing on infusion, equity, awareness, consent and prediction indicates a deep understanding of diversity and acceptance.

The afternoon session of the Cultural Connect will witness Naga tribes of Pochury, Kachari, Rengma, Lotha, Kuki and Zeliang performing various traditional performances.
