The Sümi Hoho and the Sumi Kükami Hoho in a joint press statement have appealed to all not to interfere with the survey works being carried out for the Showuba-Pangsha National Highway which has been approved by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India.

The appeal was addressed to “all the individuals, leaders and organizations across the spectrum.”

According to the Sümi Hoho, the work carried out by the survey team of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) may be hampered by “undue interference with ulterior motives” which would prevent the team “from bringing up the best possible Detailed Project Report (DPR).”

“The Sümi Hoho is afraid that the very purpose of constructing this important road may be defeated if we fail to bring up the best survey report before the actual work commences,” read the press statement.

The organisation has thus appealed “to all the Nagas in general and Sümis in particular” not to give any form of interference in the survey work and to instead give the NHIDCL a “free hand” in preparing a “timely and proper survey report”.

A proper report prepared by the NHIDCL would be beneficial for “Sümis in particular and Nagas in general”, ended the press statement.
