Rengma Ngada Festival cum Mini Hornbill held at Tseminyu

Tseminyu: Ngada, eight days festival of thanksgiving, merry making and cultural unity: MLA Seb

Rengma Ngada Festival cum Mini Hornbill was celebrated on 27th & 28th November 2024 at RSA ground, Tseminyu with MLA & DPDB chairman, Tseminyu, Ar. Jwenga Seb as special guest.

During the celebration, Seb said that Ngada is celebrated by the Rengma Nagaland tribe towards the end of November is an eight days festival of thanksgiving, merry making and cultural unity. The festival is observed after the year-long hard work in the fields and the harvest crops are gathered from fields to granaries, where the community get together in gratitude for the harvest and in remembrance of departed souls, marking the conclusion of the agricultural year. The festival is official announced by the village priest and thereafter preparation begins for the festivities, he said.

The Ngada concludes by performing rituals seeking protection from misfortunes such as fire and evil spirits, ensuring peace and prosperity in the village. He also said that Ngada is a heartfelt celebration of life, gratitude and cultural identity, keeping the traditions of Rengma Nagas alive and vibrant for generations.

The program was chaired by Vice President Rengma Hoho, Hanenmo Semy, and the keynote address was proposed by President Rengma Hoho, Er. Tesinlo Semy followed by Ngada greetings by President, Tenyimi Union Nagaland.

The day one of the program was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, Rohit Singh IAS as special guest and Chairman NIDC, Kvulo Lorin as guest of honour while welcome address was delivered by Vice President Rengma Hoho & Convenor, Ngada organising committee, Timothy Thong.
