The Rengma Officers’ Forum on Saturday condemned the “act of harassment and intimidation” on the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Prof. G.T. Thong at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus in Meriema by contractors and “some group of local people over an issue non-release of bills by the University.”
Er. Chengato Kath, President, Rengma Officers’ Forum and General Secretary David Tsela, stated that it was “deeply appalled and displeasured” by the treatment of its respected senior member and stated “such incivility and lack of respect is uncalled for in dealing with administrative matters and have no place in the society especially in the campus of the University.”
“… interfering an official in the discharge of his official duties and acts of threatening and intimidation are not only unnecessary but also disgraceful, worth condemning by all right-thinking individuals and organizations,” the Rengma Officers’ Forum stated.

The Forum further appealed to the concern authorities “to take the matter into serious cognizance and take necessary and appropriate action against the miscreants” in the best interest of the society, particularly in the peaceful learning environment of the university.
“… no official or even individuals should be subjected to such unfounded and unjustified treatment and harassment so as to enable such highly esteemed and respected professionals and members of the society to function without duress or interference in the discharge of their duties,” the Rengma Officers’ Forum added.
