The helpline number which has been instituted by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C), Ministry of Home Affairs has been set up to enable the public to report financial frauds and facilitate prompt freezing of fraudsters’ account.

“If reported early to 1930, the chances of recovering the lost amount is high,” stated the notice issued by the Superintendent of Police (SCRB) & PRO, PHQ Nagaland

A total of 241 complaints have been reported to 1930 till date and as per the records, only 74 complaints have been registered in the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) i.e., on www.cybercrime.gov.in. “This shows that the complainants are not completing the process of registering complaint. It is reminded that, upon calling 1930, citizens will get an SMS link of NCRP portal on their registered phone number. If the complainant does not register their complaint in the NCRP portal within 24hrs, their complaint will not be registered in NCRP,” added the Notice.

The registration of complaints on NCRP portal enables the Police department to take further legal action in the matter and facilitates the process of refunding the amounts to the victim.
