The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee released its manifesto for the 14th state Assembly election on Sunday promising restoration of the old pension scheme, job reservation for eastern Nagas, RO drinking water tank for villages, women ITI, stadiums, etc.
NPCC President K. Therie after the launch at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur said that the manifesto was the vision statement of the party and that it was the “priceless commitment” that they are promising to the people and the state.
If elected to power in the forthcoming election, the Congress vows to “endeavour to implement agreed political solution”.
The party pledges to restore the old pension scheme and to increase old age and widow pension to Rs.3000 per month. A revisit to the service rules and revision of pay of Home Guards and Village Guards are also assured in the manifesto.
Its promise to women include 33% reservation in ULB, ITI for women and hostels for working women.
10 modern amenities for villages such as Ro water tank and public libraries, and 15 for urban areas such as star hotels, better sewerage and malls are guaranteed by the party.
33% job reservation, a secretariat at Tuensang and a separate Directorate of School Education is promised for Eastern Nagaland.
The party says it will set up a minority board for the welfare of the minority groups in the state.
In the field of education, the Congress pledges to set up a medical college and a nursing college within one year and interest free scholarships for higher studies.

On Sunday evening, the Central Election Committee announced the names of 4 more candidates for the ensuing elections in the state. These candidates are Meshenlo Kath for 9 Kohima Town A/C, Alem Jongshi for 27 Mokokchung Town, Chenithung Humtsoe for Bhandari and P. Mulang for Noklak.
