The Changtongya-Longleng on NH-702 is once again open to all kinds of motor traffic, including heavy vehicles, the Deputy Commissioner of Longleng has informed. The road that has been affected since early June 2023 by rock slides, mud slides and landslides due to heavy rainfall, causing much inconveniences to commuters though fortunately there were no casualties to human life.
The district administration of both Longleng and Mokokchung have been closely monitoring the situation along with civil society organisations, working closely with NHIDCL contractors Nitin Sai Company.

The Longleng DC in the notification still advised drivers passing through the Longleng-Changtongya NH-702 road to exercise utmost caution while traversing the affected area. The commuters have further been advised not to halt, stop, or park their vehicles in or around landslide-affected areas to avoid risks to themselves and their co-passengers.
The Longleng-Changtongya is the main roadway between the two districts.
