Retd Principal Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Menukhol John passed away on October 31. The funeral service was held today at his native village Viswema.
Following his demise, condolences were offered by dignitaries. Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairman IDAN, Abu Metha expressed his deepest condolence on the passing of Late Menukhol John, a distinguished bureaucrat, a fine gentleman, and a dear friend.
Abu Metha described Lt. Menukhol John as an efficient officer whose professionalism and dedication set high benchmarks for all. A person of vast knowledge and wide experience, and served the State and its people with commitment and distinction. His cheerfulness was infectious and he had a way of lifting spirits even in the most challenging of times.
Beyond his bureaucratic responsibilities, John played contributory roles in many sectors of society. He had a keen interest in youth activities, sports, and charitable causes, and his feet were always firmly on the ground. He connected effortlessly with people from all walks of life, earning the respect and affection of everyone who knew him.
Metha reminisced working closely together at the Chief Minister’s Office and standing shoulder to shoulder in the COVID War Room. His warmth, humor, and camaraderie will always be remembered. His passing is a great loss to our society, for he still had much to contribute.
Abu Metha expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family, and prayers for strength and comfort to his loved ones and well-wishers.

ANGAMI GAZETTED OFFICERS’ KROTHO
Through a condolence message, the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) has expressed their deep and pained sadnessto know the untimely demise of Eno Menükhol John, (Retd.) Principal Secretary, Government of Nagaland at his residence in Lerie Colony, Kohima on 31st October 2025.
Lt. Menükhol John was a well-known figure of AGOK since he entered into service, was reckoned as a mentor, guider, and uplifter to the Association on all fronts owing to his valuable insights and acquaintances about the prevailing system and situation of the Government. He strongly valued the Association and worked hand in hand to the best of his ability with the AGOK during and even after his retirement. His contributions to the government and community in the form of sincerity and integrity not only impacted the government in the governance but also to the Association and community in many ways. Due to his amiable nature and approachable, his absence was clearly noticeable and missed in social gatherings, particularly at government events.
Lt. Menükhol John had an illustrious career in the government, holding different positions in different capacities at the highest levels that truly manifested competency, efficiency, sincerity, and integrity towards his profession. He had the unique ability to take stock of any situation with his trademark light hearted nature. A true gentleman, he lived a decorated life with full of distinction and accolades on him. Lt. Menükhol John will always be in our hearts for his good personality, exemplary services and magnanimous contributions to the society.
The AGOK deeply mourned the loss of its beloved member at this juncture, especially when his wisdom and guidance are needed to steer the Association further.
The AGOK extended their prayers and thoughts to the bereaved families at this hour of immense grief and sorrow and for strength and courage to endure the loss at this difficult time.
