REVENANT FC has secured its fourth consecutive victory in the 35+ Mokokchung Football League and the 2023 Champions Season 4. The closing ceremony, held at P. Shilu Park Mokokchung, featured Col. Rahul Gurung, Commandant of 12 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, as the Special Guest.
During his speech at the closing ceremony, Col. Rahul Gurung commended the 35+ Mokokchung Football League (MFL) team for organizing the tournament, emphasizing the coordination required for such efforts. He expressed his happiness, noting that most of the players are in his own age group. He appreciated the players for being torchbearers of sports and urged them to promote sports to the younger generation.
Gurung congratulated Revenant FC for winning the fourth consecutive title and praised all six teams for keeping the spirit of the game alive. The six participating teams in the fourth season were Revenant FC, New Ecclesia, Senso FC, Wasang FC, Terokroker FC, and Trebuchet FC.
In the final match of the season, Revenant FC defeated Terokroker FC with a score of 5-1, securing their dominance for the fourth consecutive time. Wasang FC claimed the runners-up position, narrowly ahead of Terokroker FC.
Individual prizes were awarded during the tournament to recognize outstanding performances. Revenant FC received the Fair Play Award, emphasizing the team’s commitment to sportsmanship. Joythy Pongen of Wasang FC was awarded Best Defender, Tiasunep of Terokroker FC received Best Goalkeeper, and Rongsenchiba of Revenant FC claimed the Highest Goal Scorer title with an impressive tally of 11 goals. The Player of the Tournament award was presented to Nokchashilu of Revenant FC for his exceptional performances throughout the season.
The Mokokchung Football League, catering to participants aged 35 and above, was previously recognized as the Mokokchung Friday League. This unaffiliated tournament brings together amateur and professional football enthusiasts, emphasizing recreational football and the development of camaraderie. Notably, the league is distinct in that it is entirely managed by the players, contributing to its unique organizational structure.
