A review meeting of the Programmes and Activities under the National Health Mission (NHM), Nagaland was held at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima on May 23 in the presence of Minister of Health & Family Welfare, P. Paiwang Konyak and Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, V. Kezo.
Sharing his remarks, Minister, P. Paiwang Konyak, stated that such kind of meeting gives the programmes the opportunity to express problems, concerns, “where we come together and come up with solutions”, informed a DIPR report.
Commenting on the financial challenges faced by most of the programmes, Paiwang expressed that financial allocations should be made as per the need and priorities of the various programme. Timely sharing of activities updates from the different Programme Officers was urged by the Minister in the coming days so that everyone puts their heads together for the successful implementation of the health programmes in the state.
Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, V. Kezo, also remarked, “We need to remind each other to stay focus and reiterate on the importance of the Department in placing across issues of importance to the concerned Minister and the Commissioner & Secretary, so that they can actively get involve in taking forward activities that will benefit the Department”. Kezo also stressed that as a fraternity the department needs to come together, discuss issues, make efforts and have a clear vision and goal.

He also reminded that the health care management will now be as per the Indian Public Health Standard Norms (IPHS).
Principal Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton expressed appreciation to all the Programmes on their achievement so far. He appealed all the Program Officers present that, unless we achieve our targets and improve our indicators the State will not receive the complete funds from Government of India and thus hamper the programme implementation.
Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland, Dr. Akuo Sorhie gave an overview of the Mission while the meeting was chaired by State Program Officer, NHM, Dr. Mereninla Senlem.
All the National Health Programs made presentation on their achievement, strategies and challenges and further discussions were held.
