New Market FC, Kohima, has won the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2022 by defeating Ura Uvie FC, Kohima 2-0.
This is the second major trophy for New Market FC, one of the oldest football clubs of Kohima. Earlier this year, the team had won the Kohima Super Cup 2022 trophy organised by Kohima Town Club at IG Stadium, Kohima.
Despite the stormy conditions on Monday, the final match was played as per schedule, beginning at 5:30pm.
New Market FC scored one goal in each half of the match to clinch the trophy. The first goal was scored by Neisede Peseyie (jersey no 6) in the 21st minute.
The second goal for New Market FC was scored by Yhunshalo Kemp (jersey no 9) in the 83rd minute.
Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio along with a host of dignitaries reached the stadium to grace the finals.

The champion New Market FC won a prize money of Rs 2,00,000 while 1st Runner Up Ura Uvie pocketed Rs 1,20,000.
The losing semi-finalists, FIFA FC and Shillong Lajong FC, each received Rs 30,000.

Rhitsho Mero of New Market FC was adjudged Player of the Tournament and received a two-wheeler.
By scoring 23 goals in the tournament, Rhitsho Mero also won the award for highest goal scorer in the tournament and pocketed Rs 10,000.
