In a very tragic incident which occurred on July 1 , strong reiver currents triggered by heavy rains claimed the life of a 35 year old man from Kusong village, Noklak district.
The deceased, identified as L. Pushing, had reached the Ngühaiu river, where he and his companion found the road blocked. Mention may be made that Ngühai river is located eight km away from Noklak.
Unable to cross the road through the vehicle, Pushing and his companion tried to cross the road when he accidentally slipped and fell in the river and was swept away by the strong water current. His companion in his statement mentioned that despite trying to pull him out at all cost, he could not save him.

The locals received the news around 10 pm after which they gathered the people and rushed to the spot. After intense search operations conducted by the locals, the body was found around 12 am below the main road. The body of Late Pushing was pulled out with a rope, following which they returned on foot with the body reaching home at 1:30 am.
