A lifeline road at Punyaomong, Noklak connecting over 20 villages under Noklak District and almost 40 villages if including the Khiamniungan villages in Myanmar villages was partially swept away due to heavy rain in the afternoon of 1 July 2023 at around 4:00 PM.
Punyaomong, a landslide prone area, had experienced yet another flash flood and landslide even this monsoon season. Following the heavy rain that caused landslide on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), PWD (Road & Bridge) along with EAC headquarter rushed to the spot.

Around eight vehicles were pulled out to safety on that very night. The DDMA and PWD then proceeded with the clearance of the road, and it is said to be partially repaired as of Monday evening.
The locals have said that the Punyaomong road gets blocked at least five or six times every monsoon.
The 1 July landslide is the second such occurrence this monsoon.
A source said that the road will be completely washed off in the years to come if no proper measures are taken stressing that the government must give it attention.
