In November 2023 alone, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has reunited 520 children with their families. A report from PIB New Delhi mentioned that under the ‘NanheFaristey’ mission, RPF successfully returned these children to their families from whom they were separated for various reasons. RPF’s Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) also rescued 35 children from human traffickers in different parts of the country in the same month.
Further, under Operation “Jeevan Raksha”, the Railway force RPF’s saved the lives of 224 passengers who had accidently fallen while deboarding or boarding moving trains at platforms and railway tracks, in November. RPF under operation “Yatri Suraksha” arrested 229 criminals involved in offenses against passengers, delivering them to the concerned GRP/Police. It also arrested 28 individuals involved in the perilous act of stone pelting on running trains in November 2023 under operation “Sanraksha”.
As part of the Ministry of Railways’ “Meri Saheli” Initiative which is aimed at empowering women passengers, 229 teams attended 13,552 trains in the same month and provided security assurance to 410,259 lady passengers. RPF also took action against 4618 individuals found in coaches reserved for women, it informed. Under Operation Seva, RPF provided assistance to 191 elderly, sick, or injured passengers during their rail travels.
In a crackdown on touts, the Railway Protection Force under Operation “Uplabdh”, arrested 392 individuals in November 2023 and took legal action against them as per the law. Additionally, they seized future tickets valued at Rs. 42.28 lakhs.
Under operation “NARCOS” and operation “Satark”, RPF arrested 158 individuals and seized narcotics valued at Rs 3.69 crores and illegal tobacco products and illegal liquor worth Rs 10,54,630 during November 2023. These criminals were handed over to empowered agencies for further legal action.
It was informed that the Railway Protection Force received over 21,800 complaints through Rail Madad Portal and the helpline (No. 139 integrated with Emergency Response Support System No. 112) in November and promptly addressed security-related complaints.
