The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has criticized the Nagaland Government for being “obsessed” with the proposed Chiethu airport and Nagaki city while neglecting the roads, the airport and the railway station in Dimapur.
In a press release, the RPP pointed out that the roads in Dimapur are now “utterly unpliable” and that the “Dengue epidemic is likely on the horizon thanks to flooding on account of poor drainage system”. It mentioned that the Urban Development Department (UDD), which is responsible for maintenance of roads in urban areas, “is only concerned with Nagaki City apparently motivated by the cost of the project which according to reports is in hundreds of Crores”.
The Party also the PDA government is pursuing the Chiethu airport project in Kohima “with missionary zeal” despite of the Ministry of Civil Aviation declaring the site as “NOT feasible” while the lone airport and the lone Railway station in Dimapur “languishes due to rampant encroachment”. The Rising People’s Party has urged the government to table a White Paper on the two encroached places in the upcoming NLA session scheduled for 27th August.
Further, the RPP claimed that “the biggest criminal syndicate in the state is a small cabal of politicians who controls almost all the resources of the state” alleging that the politicians pursuing the two projects “have already invested Crores” at the sites.
“This situation of resource and funding control is only possible in an opposition-less government,” it added.
