The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has once again criticized the “latest adventurism” of Government of India’s Interlocutor for Naga talks, AK Mishra, terming his approach as “putting the cart before the horse”.

In a press statement, the RPP asked Mishra to explain the present status of the “Framework Agreement” and the “Agreed Position”, and also urged him to clarify whether these agreements are still relevant and whether he has managed to bring all the warring factions on board for a final settlement. It also asked what the timeframe is for this settlement.

Describing it as “constant shifting of goalposts”, the RPP urged Mishra to “take a break” and allow the ongoing Naga-led efforts towards unity to take precedence.

“ In short, before this elusive factional unity is realized, Mr. Mishra should avoid fishing in troubled waters,” the party stated.

The party also called for disbandment of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) constituted by the ruling coalition stating that it serves no purpose than to peddle the propaganda that the NDPP-BJP coalition government is doing something.

It said self-serving leaders obsessed with their own individual legacy and fiefdom have failed to understand the pulse of PM Modi’s government.

Pointing out that the Prime Minister “respects strength”, the RPP said Nagas too can portray strength through a united front. At the same time, it also cautioned that the same Prime Minister who respects strength can also show the same disdain and that the stakeholders should understand this reality.

It further said entities chasing self-serving goals at the cost of unity should be careful, lest history would denounce them as “puppets and traitors”.
