Noklak
Nagaland Information Commission in collaboration with District Administration Noklak organised a programme to celebrate the Right to Information week in Noklak. The celebration was held at DC Conference Hall, Noklak on 12 October under the theme, ‘RTI- A tool for Transparent and Accountable Governance’.
SDO (Civil) Noklak Sadar C Phuniang stated that RTI is a powerful tool that gives a chance to improve the way the government and its employees function. He also pointed out the damages it may cause when the power is misused.
SDO (Civil) Noklak Hq Mongo Khiamniungan in his presentation mentioned that government has the right to refuse a request for information if the disclosure of information could affect the sovereignty, integrity, strategic, scientific or economic interests of the India or relations with other countries.
OC Fire & Emergency Services Theuosielie Pielie in his presentations elaborated on the benefits of RTI. He also stated that RTI is not the solution by itself but is the first step by which citizens can claim their rights under the law and the Constitution. Furthermore, he explained in detail the tips for writing an application, obtaining information, and penalty.
Tseminyu

The district celebrated RTI week with the theme ‘A tool for transparent and accountable governments’ at the Deputy Commissioner’s official chamber Tseminyu on 12 October. The programme was attended by public leaders, students, village councils/VDBs, and NGOs.
Extra Assistant Commissioner Tseminyu, Tumben P Tsanglao, as the resource person, told the gathered that RTI is not only a right to get information but also to get the right information. He further explained the process of filling a request for information by any citizen.
Tsanglao added that a person below the poverty can apply for free on producing proof of documents like a ration card, ID card, etc.
Niuland

Niuland district celebrated Right to Information week on 12 October at DC’s Conference Hall Niuland under the theme ‘RTI- A tool for Transparent and Accountable Governance’. Various public leaders, GBs, village Council members, and officers from the district attended the program.
ADC T Lemlila Sangtam chaired the programme and EAC Imlijungla Lemtur gave a PowerPoint presentation on RTI.
Deputy Commissioner Niuland, Sara S Jamir, in her short address, stated that since 2005 when the RTI came into force all the government offices and departments have maintained official records that have led to more transparency and accountability in the governance.
Jamir said that RTI is a good instrument but urged people not to misuse it.
