The induction of the new Deputy Speaker S Toiho Yeptho was held today at the Fourth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Yeptho from the National Congress Party was elected unopposed as the Deputy Speaker.
Felicitating Yeptho, Chief Minister of Nagaland and the leader of the house Neiphiu Rio mentioned that Toiho has had a rich experience in the domain of public service and served as a leader of various students organization in his youth. Rio also highlighted Toiho’s experiences in public service, where he served as Chairman of village council of Khekiye, General secretary of Chümoukedima Area Village Council Association and advisor of the Dimapur district village.

“The very fact that he has been elected in this House unanimously is an indication of the confidence of the house reposed on him. I also take this opportunity to take all the Honourable Members of this August house for their cooperation and thereby enabling this house to elect our Deputy speaker unanimously under the guidance of our experience and efficient Speaker I affirm confidence that S Toiho Yepthomi, with his background in public service and his vibrant personality you all feel will have no problem in picking up the ropes of his new office and functioning as a good and efficient Deputy Speaker,” stated Rio.
Highlighting the roles, duties and powers of the Legislative Assembly, Rio expressed optimism that the House will perform it’s functions effectively under the new leadership.
