Safer Internet Day held in Kohima and Mokokchung

In observance of Safer Internet Day, the NIC Kohima District Centre, under the ISEA Project, organized an awareness workshop at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kohima under the theme “Together for a Better Internet” on 11th February 2025.

Speaking at the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, NCS emphasized the importance of responsible internet usage, especially within government offices. He highlighted the risks associated with negligence, which could compromise entire office systems, and urged employees to adhere to cybersecurity protocols. He also reminded the participants that NIC internet usage is monitored by the Cyber Security Cell, India, and stressed the importance of installing antivirus software.

During the workshop, NIC Kohima conducted a PowerPoint presentation to educate participants on various aspects of cyber safety. The session covered key topics such as Common cyber threats and their impact, Cyber hygiene practices to minimize risks, Human errors that can lead to security breaches, Best practices for a safer online experience, Reporting mechanisms for cybercrime and others.

Mokokchung

Mokokchung celebrated Safer Internet Day under the theme “Together   for a better Internet’’ at the DC’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung on 11th February 2025.

The programme highlighted the importance of utilizing internet safely and gave insights on Cyber Crime like, fraudulent emails, SMS and voice phishing by the team NIC, Mokokchung.

They also encouraged making use of helpline number 1930 and www.cybercrime.gov.in to file for complaints.

The programme was chaired by Er. Lanusenla Longkumer, Principal, ICIT, Mokokchung   followed by introductory remarks by Er. Temsuwathi, Senior Director (IT) NIC, Mokokchung and short speech by Temsuchuba, SDO Civil, Mokokchung.
