The Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland convened its 31st Local Board of Administration (LBA) meeting on April 25. The meeting was chaired by Maj Gen Vijay Jotwani, SM, Chief of Staff, HQ Spear Corps and Chairman of the LBA. Distinguished attendees included S. Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Nagaland, along with other esteemed board members and State Government Officials.
According to a press release from the NPCC Communications Department, the meeting focused on key initiatives to enhance the institution’s academic and infrastructural growth.
During his address, Jamir extended heartfelt congratulations to the school administration, faculty, and students for achieving 100% results in the Class 10 and 12 CBSE board examinations. He lauded the collective efforts of the school community in maintaining exemplary academic standards and reinforcing Sainik School, Punglwa’s reputation as a premier institution in the region.
Highlighting the importance of holistic development and cross-learning opportunities, the MP proposed the promotion of exposure trips for students from schools across Nagaland’s districts to visit Sainik School, Punglwa. Such initiatives, he emphasized, would foster camaraderie, share best practices, and inspire younger students to aspire toward disciplined and excellence-driven education. Additionally, Shri. Jamir advocated for educational tours for the school’s cadets to prestigious institutions like the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Military Academy (IMA), enabling them to gain first hand exposure to military training and leadership pathways.
In a significant step toward addressing connectivity challenges, the MP announced that he has proposed the installation of a BSNL tower near the school premises. This initiative, once approved, aims to bolster digital infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication and access to online educational resources for students and staff.
Jamir also engaged with cadets and students during a refreshment break, encouraging them to pursue academic rigor, physical fitness, and ethical values. He reiterated his commitment to supporting Sainik School, Punglwa’s mission to nurture future leaders and defenders of the nation.

The school administration expressed gratitude to S Supongmeren Jamir for his proactive guidance and assured concerted efforts to implement the proposed initiatives. The meeting concluded with a resolve to further strengthen the institution’s legacy of excellence.
Another press release from the PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh informed that the Principal of Sainik School presented a comprehensive briefing on the key achievements of the school and initiatives undertaken over the past academic year to include infrastructure projects, enhancement of academic performance, holistic development of cadets and forthcoming endeavours.
The board deliberated on the strategies to enable its cadets to prepare for the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) Examination.
The Chairman commended the focused efforts of the school in training and motivating cadets. He also praised the faculty and staff for their commitment, which has led to marked improvements in the school’s academic performance, administrative functioning, and infrastructure.
