Sainik School Punglwa emerges as Overall Champion at All India Sainik Schools National Games (Group E)

Punglwa: Winners of respective events to represent Sainik Schools of Group-E at national level competitions

All India Sainik Schools National Games Group-E and Sports-2024, were conducted at the Sainik School, Punglwa in Nagaland from 20-24 Aug 2024. Five Sainik Schools from North-Eastern region viz. Sainik School Goalpara, Sainik School Imphal, Sainik School Chhingchhip, Sainik School East-Siang, and the host, Sainik School Punglwa, competed across various disciplines during an eventful five days, informed PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.

The sports and cultural events included Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Athletics, and a vibrant Cultural Competition. The games concluded with a spectacular ceremony on 24th August 2024 at Sainik School Punglwa. Rupin Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police, Nagaland graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The closing ceremony was a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and excellence fostered by the Games. The Chief Guest, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all winners and the participants and highlighted that sports teach us to be disciplined which is the essence of life. He also reminded the cadets that they were fortunate to be cadets of Sainik School which prepares an individual for any eventuality of life.

The Chief Guest gave away the medals and the trophies to the winners. Sainik School Chhingchhip clinched both the Volleyball and Basketball Championship Trophies. Sainik School East Siang and Sainik School Imphal emerged victorious in the Hockey Championship and Athletics respectively. Sainik School Punglwa retained the Cultural Competition Trophy with their vibrant and diverse presentation. The most coveted accolade of the event, the Overall Championship Trophy, was proudly lifted by Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland further underscoring their remarkable success across multiple disciplines.

In addition to these accolades, the Best Discipline Trophy was awarded to Sainik School Goalpara, recognising their exemplary conduct and sportsmanship throughout the Games. The winners will now represent Sainik Schools of Group-E in their respective events at the national level competitions being scheduled at Sainik School Chandrapur, Maharastra.
