DC and Chairperson Mission Shakti Niuland, Sara S Jamir inaugurated Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC) at Niuland near Community Health Centre, Medical Colony Niuland on November 11.

During the inaugural program, DC acknowledged the Government & Social Welfare Department for the successful establishment of OSC in the district. He also said OSC will provide integrated support and assistance to the women 24×7. While recollecting those cases in the last 3 and half years in the district, DC said only 2 (unregistered) such cases were reported but reminded that there can be many more cases that goes unnoticed since many are reluctant to come forward in registering the case.

Therefore, the DC urged all the concerned officials/Staffs and citizens to actively participate and support for the successful operation of the OSC in the district. She also requested all the department officials to treat everyone with honour and dignity.

In her keynote address, Avonou Kire SDO (Civil) highlighted the role and functions of the OSC and said it will provide integrated support and assistance from various departments such as Police, Medical, Legal, temporary shelters and psychosocial counselling.

Earlier, office dedication was done by Vitoli Sumi, Catechist of St. Joseph Church. The program was chaired by Nitokali I Awomi, while Hika Yeptho delivered the vote of thanks.
