The Aliba Fellowship Mokokchung Town organized the second edition of its Sales Day today at Imlong Place, Mokokchung, featuring 15 stalls showcasing a range of locally made products including crocheted items, home-baked goodies, wood and bamboo crafts, metal crafts, live plants, fast food and snacks, pickles, and more.
According to the organizers, the initiative was motivated by the increasing number of Aliba villagers, both from the village and those residing in the town, who have ventured into small-scale and home-based businesses in recent years.
“We felt the need to encourage our local home-based and small business owners. With that in mind, a committee was formed last year to organize a sales day that provides a platform for small business owners and artisans to connect with potential customers,” the Fellowship stated.
The organizers informed that all proceeds from the sales go directly to the artisans and entrepreneurs themselves. “The objective is not only to sell their products on Sales Day but also to promote and advertise them for future prospects,” they added.

To bring together participants for the event, the Sales Day committee reached out and coordinated with individual artisans and business owners through invitation letters sent to every household under the Fellowship, encouraging participation.
The Fellowship said that Sales Day aims to serve multiple purposes — economic empowerment, community exposure, and social bonding. “We want artisans and producers to become common public knowledge, expand their customer base, and foster unity and bonding within the community,” they said.
Highlighting the importance of such events, the Fellowship observed that local producers often face challenges in expanding their customer reach.
“There seems to be a gap between the market and our local producers, especially those operating from home. Events like this help them connect with customers beyond their limited circles,” they stated.
The organizers also shared that the enthusiastic response from participants, as well as the support from the District Administration and the proprietor of Imlong Place, made the organizing process smoother. They expressed hope that the entrepreneurs themselves would take up the initiative in future editions.
The Fellowship confirmed that the Sales Day will continue as an annual event.
The event was held from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free entry for all visitors.
