SamaBhav International Travelling Film Festival begins at Alder College Kohima

A film being screened at the SamaBhav International Travelling Film Festival at Dr Setu Memorial Hall, Alder College, Kohima.

The two-day SamaBhav International Travelling Film Festival on Gender Diversity and Inclusion kicked off in Alder College, Kohima today. The festival is being organised by Women Development Cell, Alder College, Bodhana Trust and Mumbai -based organisation, Men Against Violence & Abuse.

SamaBhav, which means “equanimity”, showcases contemporary short, documentary and feature films about discrimination against women and other gender minorities. Toxic masculinity, homophobia, transphobia and gender issues are among the topics covered by the selected films. National and international short films, documentaries and feature films on such issues are being screened including The Bystander Moment, Gandi Baat, We Need to Talk, Ujjhyo, Kohrra among others.

The screenings at the festival are followed by stirring conversations with activists, filmmakers and academics. The attendees include students from different colleges and organisations in Kohima.

Screening, on the second day of the festival, will resume on 28 April at 10 AM at Dr Setu Memorial Hall, Alder College. Screening is free for all, and registration can be done by scanning a QR code provided.
