As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen inclusive education practices across the state, the Inclusive Education (IE) component under Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, organized a comprehensive In-Service Training Programme for IE Resource Persons (RPs) and Coordinators, along with focused sessions on the development of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) and Exhibition showcasing innovative educational tools. The event was held at Morung Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima.
The training was focused on capacitating the IE RPs and Coordinators in inclusive pedagogical approaches, to equip participants with knowledge and skills for developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), to provide exposure to various therapeutic interventions that support children with special needs, to promote the use and creation of contextually relevant and child-friendly TLMs and to foster innovation through a competitive exhibition of self-developed TLMs.

Kopele Tepa, founder and proprietor of Bumblebee Inclusive School, led enriching sessions on the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and strategies for creating and managing an inclusive classroom environment that addresses the diverse needs of all learners.
Rukuse Sakhrie, conducted a session on Music Therapy, emphasizing its role in enhancing cognitive, emotional, and social development among children with special needs.
Practical Demonstrations and Hands-on Training were conducted on Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Support strategies for children with Visual Impairment. These sessions were facilitated by trained specialists among the IE RPs and Coordinators, allowing participants to gain practical insights and engage in cross disability learning.
At the Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Exhibition, IE RPs and Coordinators showcased a variety of creative and inclusive educational aids developed during the training. These materials were designed to be affordable, easy to use, and effective in meeting the unique needs of children with disabilities.
Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha and Principal Director, Department of School Education also visited the TLM Exhibition and interacted with the IE RPs and Coordinators and commented them on their efforts in developing innovative TLMs and encouraged them to continue to work towards providing their services so that no child gets left behind.
Winners of the exhibition were recognized for their innovation and practical approach: 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions were bagged by Ngaugongbe of EBRC Athibung, Nungshisenla Ozukum of EBRC Zunheboto and Zumongi Kikon of EBRC Peren respectively.
The training and exhibition served as a platform for professional development, peer learning, and innovation in inclusive education. By empowering IE RPs and Coordinators with hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge, the programme contributes significantly to the vision of “Education for All” under Samagra Shiksha. It also reaffirmed the importance of TLMs as powerful tools in addressing diverse learning needs and ensuring effective classroom inclusion across schools in Nagaland.
