The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) has made it mandatory for all trekkers visiting Dzükou Valley to be guided by SAYO registered tour guides. It said no trekking would be allowed beyond 3 p.m. either to or from Dzükou Valley.

Zasitsolie Beio, President, SAYO stated that the decision has been necessitated due to the increasing number of incidents where trekkers, without guides have lost their way or got stranded along the trail. On multiple occasions, SAYO volunteers have had to carry out rescue operations late at night or in the early morning incurring considerable expense and risk.

To ensure the safety of trekkers and to prevent further unwarranted incidents, SAYO said all trekkers must engage the services of a local guide before entering Dzükou Valley.
