The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) has served an ultimatum to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Coorporation Limited (NHIDCL) today, “to undertake construction of road projects of the said stretch on war-footing and ensure completion by 25th November, 2023 without any obstruction, whatsoever”.

The SAYO In a letter to the General Manager of NHIDCL noted that it has been compelled to serve the ultimatum following the delay in the completion of the National Highway 02 stretch, along Southern Angami region (Phesama- Khuzama village) which has incessantly caused inconvenience to the general public and commuters due to its deplorable condition.

“The NH stretch serves as the main road connectivity for the people of Southern Angami Villages and also directly provides connectivity to important tourist destinations located in our region. It is noteworthy to mention that the 10-day Annual Hornbill Festival, 2023 will begin in December this year which will attract local, domestic and international tourists and visitors for the festival,” reminded the SAYO.

However, the road condition which has been awaiting completion for many years has not only  caused inconvenience from all quarters, SAYO stated, but is an embarassment for the region despite the citizen’s efforts and pursuance for improvement of the road.

“Therefore, it has left us without an option, considering the urgency of the case and therefore, we are compelled to issue this Ultimatum,” asserted the letter issued by Metekhrielie Mejura, President and Metevizo Sophie, General Secretary. The SAYO also reminded that it had earlier issued an Ultimatum on February 17, 2022 for prompt remedial action and expediting repair of the National Highway.
