The Department of Music Ministry, Sümi Baptist Church Zunheboto celebrated its 25th anniversary on 23rd-24th September 2023. The Jubilee was celebrated in SBCZ church under the theme “Good news is coming” (Psalm 98), the Media Cell, SBCZ mentioned in a press release.
Speaking on the theme of the Jubilee, Inaholi Aye Rochill, Former Associate Pastor (Music) SBCZ, shared her experiences and testimonies on how music plays a crucial role in the lives of everyone. She recalled that during the pandemic, they could reach out to people in isolation through music in different social media platforms and further learnt that many believers had a wonderful testimony of their healings and comfort through music.
Stressing on the importance of music she cited an instance from the Bible in 1 Samuel, Chapter 16, where Saul the king of Israel was being tormented by the evil spirit. “He was desolate, frustrated and without peace however, when David began to play the music, the spirit of God intervened along with the Music and the evil spirit departed from him”. She encouraged the congregation to use our talents for God’s glory.

Delivering jubilee greetings, Bokaho Zhimomi, Chairman Jubilee Planning Board, extended his sincere appreciation to all the pioneers of the Church’s Music Committee, many of whom have left this world. He said their good works will always be cherished.
Ghunato Assumi, Associate Pastor General SBCZ, offered a jubilee prayer and launched the Souvenir.
A special number was presented by members of Margaret Shishak School of Music and Church Jubilee Choir. The program was presided by Veto Sumi, Associate Pastor Sector. Music committee, office bearers both past and present and well-wishers were felicitated during the programme
Earlier on 23rd September during the inaugural program, Jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rev. Henito Swu, Rtd. Evangelist, SBAK Nito Mount and dedicatory prayer for jubilee was pronounced by Dr. Hutton Sumi, Pastor SBCZ.
As part of the Music Ministry Jubilee, a band competition was organised for all the town churches under SBAK (NM) where Sumi Baptist Church Kohima was adjudged the winner and Sumi Baptist Church Mokokchung was declared Runners-up.
During the concluding session on 24th September, Margaret Shishak School of Music and Strings Ensemble, Patkai Christian College were the guest musicians where they enthralled the congregation with a melodious presentation. Vivikali A Asumi, Music Director, SBCZ exhorted the gathering.
